The book ‘Middles, Centers, Spiders, & Inserts’ is a 50 page publication of Jules Gayton’s 45rpm record adapters collection. Back in the day, deejaying only involves records and some DJs prefer to use 45rpm record or 7″ vinyl, the small ones with the big hole in the middle. One important tool of the DJ aside from his headphones is the adapter of the small records to fit the 45s in the turntable’s spindles. As his journey evolved from years of deejaying, Gayton collected different kinds of adaptors for his records. This had him come up with a book about his most prized collection. Aside from seeing the middles, centers, inserts and spiders, Gayton also wrote a personal essay about his DJ career and his love for the vinyl. The book’s foreword is written by DJ and music academic Carten Van Pelt of WKCR, Columbia University’s radio station.

Middles, Centers, Spiders & Inserts: 45 Adapters from the Collection of Jules Gayton is available from Miss Lilly’s.
