Step into Wanderland: Revel in a World of Music Fancy

Step right up and witness one spectacular event set to take your concert experience beyond imagination: the Wanderland Music and Arts Festival 2014, a festival by Karpos Multimedia presented by River Island and Globe. May 17 marks this much-awaited gathering where Wanderers can go to celebrate youth and pour out their hearts in the open field of the Globe Circuit Events Ground in Makati.

This year, more wonderful things await you as you step into the ultimate sonic playground. You’ll be moving to the music of sought after international and local bands that will fuel your drive for a rockin’ good time. The festival encounter just got more exciting as well, as the Wanderland monsters take you to the Carnival. Set to heighten the thrills are the River Island Wanderwheel, the High Striker and carnival games such as Feed the Monster, Ring My Nose, Wanderball, Balloon Pop and Crazy Cans. The Art Island, which will showcase Live Art by Anjo Bolarda, JP Cuison and Dee Jae Pa’este among other art activities plus the Food Island where an assortment of food selections at the festival, await revelers as well.

Headlining Wanderland is the American indie pop band from New York, The Drums, composed of Jonny Pierce, Jacob Graham and Connor Hanwick , best known for their ‘80’s style surf rock’ music. As soon as their EP ‘Summertime’ came out late 2009, the band’s rise to popularity seemed unstoppable. This popularity was backed up by several distinctions, as they placed No. 5 for the BBC Sound Of 2010, No.1 in NME’s top tips for the year, and No. 1 in Clash Magazine’s Tips for 2010. They were also voted ‘Best Hope for 2010’ in Pitchfork Media’s 2009 Readers’ Poll. The band took home the Hall Radar Award at the 2010 NME (New Musical Express) Awards. Currently, their third album is already finished, and eager fans are awaiting for its official release.

About to grace the stage with soothing melodies and rhythmic vibes is The Paper Kites, a five piece indie folk troupe from Melbourne, who recently garnered a whirlwind success with a sold out headline tour of the USA and Canada. With a strong reputation for creating innovative and mesmerizing video clips which have attracted over 10 million YouTube views, The Paper Kites’ live presence is just as impressive.

Sure to get things rolling is Swedish breakout indie rock band, The Royal Concept, whose addictive pop anthems have gained them international recognition. Their following started to grow rapidly after their track “D-D-Dance” became a huge hit. Global hype came next for the band with their second single, “Gimme Twice” spreading across blogs all over the world and becoming the most added at track radio for three weeks right after its release.

Critically acclaimed Brisbane quartet Last Dinosaurs whose debut album received praise and created a buzz in the international indie scene, English songtress Lucy Rose, who became known for her fragile vocals conquering fans from festival to festival including her very own headlining tour and Australian pop powerhouse Architecture in Helsinki, best known for their defining unique sound and their diverse instrumental palette, will be shaking up the Wanderland stage as well. Get ready to be blown away too by Aussie rising star Woody Pitney , OPM heavyweight Franco, Electro sensation Techy Romantics, along with fresh homegrown talents from Wanderband – The Ransom Collective, Brisom, and Chocolate Grass.

Tickets are oginally priced at Php 4800, but for a limited time offer of two weeks, early bird tickets will be available for only Php 3000 at the ‘River Island Takes You to Wanderland’ event on April 12, featuring a musical performance by the band Cheats, and exciting freebies upon ticket purchase. Early bird tickets will also be available via SM Tickets and Ticketnet from April 12 – April 26.
