“Life is Taft.”

The ever resounding cliche term for the opening of Gabby’s Closet in University Mall along Taft Avenue, beside DLSU. In case you missed it, this will just be a simple recap of what had transpired.

The second store of “Gabby’s Closet” Manila is situated in a small mall that many “green” students are familiar with, University Mall along Taft Avenue beside the famous McDonalds at the foot of Vito Cruz station. I personally was very happy of the new location, believing that it would further the already flourishing sneaker game in Taft – plus it is very accessible to most of the students because students from both Benilde and La Salle are very familiar with that mall.

The theme of the grand opening of the second “Gabby’s Closet” shop was all about good friends, new friends, and new acquaintances all getting together to share a passion for a culture we all love and appreciate – the sneakergame; and everything that came along with it. Streetwear, good music, good friends, and a passion that drove us all together.

Music was superb having top level DJs Aryan Magat and Marc Marasigan spinning to their heart’s content and giveaways everywhere. People were eager to gain entrance and see what the new branch has to offer. Of course, Gabby’s closet did not disappoint.

With a wide range of brands from your usual Nikes – Nike SBs, Nike streetwear, etc., of course the ever so present Jordans, and their rival, Adidas with the new ZX flux models. Present also are New Balance, and Pumas galore.

Aside from the sneakers, a shop like this would not be complete without famous street wear! Brands ranging from Diamond Supply Co. to Stussy, Staple, and many more providing us with the freshest clothing, accessories – basically anything that would provide us with the latest fashion on the street. Not to mention the exclusive release of the Gabby’s Closet X CLAVEL Magazine T-shirt and dip-dye sweater, available exclusively at Gabby’s Closet and the CLAVEL Magazine web store (coming soon).

Lucky attendees had gone home with freebies they had won from the raffles and giveaways during the event. Several caps, shirts and accessories were given away via raffle, and one lucky attendee even found himself going home with a brand new pair of KD6 Aunt Pearls – such a lucky guy that guy. And those that weren’t lucky enough were still winners, being surrounded by people that shared the same passion that they did, old friends, new friends, good company, and good music. Everyone was a winner.

Flocked by many Taft students, residents, and even non-Taft inhabitants that wanted the freshest gear they could get their hands on, the opening was packed. The support Gabby’s Closet Taft had been given was overwhelming and the event was great.

Another successful opening, another great store. More power to Gabby’s Closet Manila.
