Red Bull BC One, the world’s largest B-Boy competition, is coming to the Philippines for the first time this year. The first local BC One Cypher will shine the spotlight on the country’s best B-Boys as they go head-to-head from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on MARCH 22, 2015 at SPARTA Philippines, Mandaluyong City. The winner will represent the Philippines at the Asia Pacific Regional Final to be held in South Korea in October.
To get Manila’s B-Boys and B-Girls even more amped, BC One Allstar B-Boy Ronnie will be flying in to head the judging panel – a solid line-up of some of the world’s best (literally) movers and shakers. Led by B-Boy Ronnie, the judges will single out the best breaker among 16 finalists who can give the most thrilling show, explosive moves, massive energy, and a whole lot of breaking.
Two-time World Hip Hop Dance Champions, Philippine Allstars, will be hosting the Manila leg along with Hip Hop 4 Hope, an international team of hip-hop dancers brought together by their shared love of the genre and the desire to help local street children through dance.
Come November, all roads lead to Rome for the World Final. 10 Wild Card entries will join the six Regional Winners from Azerbaijan, USA, Peru, South Korea, Spain, and Tunisia to round out this year’s competition. With its long and storied breaking history, Italy is the perfect backdrop for the 2015 championship.
At the Palazzo dei Congressi, where cultural and Olympic events alike have been staged, breakers from all over the world – if we’re lucky, maybe even a Filipino – will display their most riveting toprock, downrock, power moves, and freezes to be named 2015’s Red Bull BC One Champion.
Last year, millions tuned in from all over to see The Netherland’s Menno take the coveted title in Paris. As stakes become higher and the competition tougher, could this year’s top breaker be one of our own?
