The local Filipino surfing community was recently treated to a “night of Filth” at the Century City Mall, Makati as action sports brand Volcom presented Mark Mabanag’s latest surf film, Days of Filth. This is director Mark Mabanag’s follow-up to his earlier film “Archipelago” which came out last 2014.
Mark created this film with freedom in mind: “Pack your bags, bring your boardies and surfboards, carry a book, play rock n’ roll music and go. They say experience is the best education, so why not get down and dirty on the road? Forget the fresh laundry; wash your clothes by the beach. Camp whenever and wherever you feel like it. Enjoy the cold beers and grilled fish in the wild. Do whatever you want, you are free. Days Of Filth is your beautiful distraction from political campaigns.”
The film features the best water repertoire of the top surfers the Philippines has to offer, namely PJ Alipayo, Philmar Alipayo, Carlito Nogalo, Piso Alcala, Luke Landrigan, Manuel Melindo, Mike Oida, Marco Villareal, Wilson Faraon, John Louie Farinas, Dionisio Espejon, Osot Alcala, Roger Casugay, Ian Saguan, and John Mark Tokong who were also present in the event. After the film showing, Volcom treated guests to food, drinks and music at 12 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub.
The Days of Filth film played on loop the whole night while the audience was treated to live music by featured performers Inky de Dios, Bleu Rascals and Yamato. Grind the Action Sports store, who is a co-sponsor, had a rad stand-in-line tattoo booth for those who wanted to go crazy that night.
