As the public grows ever more attune with their style, a number of sartorial trends have been experiencing resurgence. Among which is the boot trend and one brand that easily comes into everyone’s mind is Dr. Martens.
On the first of April, 1960, the first pair of Dr. Martens boot rolled off the Cobbs Lane Factory’s production line in Wollaston, England – giving it its iconic name, the 1460 boot. What once was originally created for workers, from postmen to the police, Dr. Martens became increasingly popular amid characters of a rebellious nature, subculture vultures, musicians, and artists – contributing to the brand’s legacy of being a symbol of individuality and dynamic self-expression.
This season, trend seekers and stylephiles would be delighted to know that Dr. Martens is slated to launch four new stores as an answer to the growing clamour for its timeless products, namely, Dr. Martens Glorietta, Dr. Martens SM Mall of Asia, Dr. Martens SM The Block, and Dr. Martens SM Megamall – all of which will officially open its doors to everyone this June.
As Dr. Martens increases its presence, longtime wearers and those who are yet to own a pair can now enjoy an easier and wider access to the brand’s vast range of styles. Due to its unfazed popularity, the manufacturing process of Dr. Martens boot has since been fine-tuned and perfected. With that said, Dr. Martens Originals, a line that features the brand’s iconic styles such as the 3989 Brogue, the Adrian Tassel loafer, the Church Monkey boot, the 2976 Chelsea boot, the 1490 and 1914 boots, and the Polley T-bar shoe, may all be found at any Dr. Martens store. Yet to date, a select range of “Made In England” products are still manufactured in the original Cobbs Lane factory and also made available in select outlets.
Trends may come and go, but unique style and individuality are here to stay – as proven by the transcendent nature of Dr. Martens.
