When the team behind Sunnies Studios dream, they dream big and you can bet on them to make that dream happen — no matter how hard it may seem. A group of friends consisting of a pair of cousins and a couple, business partners Georgina Wilson, Martine Cajucom, Eric Dee Jr., and Bea Soriano-Dee started the company with their common interests on fashion, style and business binding them. Ever since the launch of their first Sunnies store at the SM Mall of Asia back in 2013, they’ve only grown to be bigger and bolder. With an increasing demand for high quality and stylish prescription eyewear, Sunnies Specs was born, a new brand that adds variation to the already spectacular Sunnies.
“It started when people kept asking if we could make prescription eyewear,” shares Marketing Director Georgina Wilson during the launch of Sunnies Specs last July 6, “Customers tell us that they love our frames and that they want to get everything they need all in one place, and so we did it for them.” Less than two years after launching Sunnies, the owners noticed a subtle but growing trend: various Sunnies pieces were being converted into prescription eyewear. For months prior the launch, they have been toying with the idea of creating a simpler, more enjoyable experience of getting eyeglasses – one that is design-driven, user-centered and easy on the pocket.
Sunnies Specs was created with the thought of providing prescription eyewear that are unpretentious yet stylish, and with the right price point. For Php 1,999.00, one can get an eye exam and a pair of graded eyeglasses all in the same day. The customer starts with picking a frame from about 100 different styles, designs and colors that fits his or her face shape, aesthetics and personality. This is followed by an eye exam with the in-house optometrist where the customer will also be given the option to upgrade the lenses to “blue light” (for eye protection against digital gadget screens), “high-index” (for superior visual clarity perfect for high grades), “photochromic” (light-adaptive lenses that doubles as sunglasses), and “polycarbonate” (impact-resistant and lightweight lenses perfect for active lifestyles). Within an average of two hours, a customer can already pick his or her pair of Sunnies Specs up, just in time for that Instagram-worthy selfie.
The Sunnies Specs pop-up stores and virtual merchandise are just as well thought of. Different shades of greens, mustards and browns, from darks to understated pastels, are showcased, and clean lines and grids are made focal. Creative Director Martine Cajucom approves everything from the specific shade of every frame to the store’s walls, lights, and even furniture. This meticulousness keeps the brand always looking on-point and aligned to its identity.
In true Sunnies Studios fashion, the launch of its latest brand could not have possibly flown without a hip house party. With the four owners leading the squad, a chic mix of celebrities, social influencers and bloggers danced the night away to the music of international DJ Yasmin.
In attendance were bloggers Laureen Uy, Wil Dasovich, David Guison, Vina Guerrero, Jaz Reyes, Bea Marin, Janeena Chan, social influencers Boom Sason, Brent Javier, Divine Lee, Janna Tee, Phoemela Baranda, Tim Yap, Dominique Cojuanco, Nico Bolzico, Jess Wilson, Charmaine Palermo, Rajo Laurel, Nix Alanon, Gretchen Fullido, JM Rodriguez, Janina Manipol, Jessica Yang, Ella Pangilinan, Gabs Gibbs, Akiko Abad, Kaila Estrada, Natalia Ortega, BJ Pascual, Liz Uy and celebrities Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Sam Concepcion, Keith Thompson, Bianca King, Maggie Wilson, Iza Calzado, Max Collins, Bubbles Paraiso, Bianca Gonzalez, Solenn Heussaff and Julia Barretto among other guests.
