The local premier multi-brand lifestyle footwear and accessories store, SneakPeek, is up to something definitely hype-worthy. More than halfway through the year, the brand is still unstoppable when it comes to bringing in awesome highlights for the sneaker and street culture. This August, SneakPeek teamed up with one of the world’s finest streetwear brands, Staple Pigeon. SneakPeek exclusively launched the Staple Summer 2016 collection and the sought-after, limited edition Nike Air Max Zero “Pigeon” iD released only in Manila.
In honor of the historical launch, the creative mastermind behind Staple Pigeon, Jeff Staple, flew all the way from their headquarters in New York to drop the hottest release in Manila to date. Jeff Staple is not only a streetwear veteran but is also an established fashion and graphic designer, curator, branding professional, footwear enthusiast, and an all-around creative visionary.
Jeff Staple is a notable example of hard work and dedication, withstanding the tenacious city of New York where he was able to carve out a name for himself and organically build a brand with a robust following. Throughout the years, Jeff Staple has taken Staple Pigeon’s mantra“A Positive Social Contagion” on a higher and broader scale, spreading his superb design expertise and garden-fresh ideas across different platforms worldwide.
The story behind Staple Pigeon is just about the perfect How-To-Make-It-In-New-York story there is. One random day, a young Jeff Staple (real name Jeff Ng) walked into a shop in New York City donning a self-made silk screened tee for a class he took up at Parsons School of Design. What he didn’t expect was to walk out of the boutique with 12 orders of his shirt. He didn’t even have any intention of starting a brand, but with that serendipitous moment, everything changed. Not long after that, his brainchild Staple Pigeon materialized. What only started as a small T-shirt line handmade by Jeff himself, now became a streetwear sensation in NYC and now, globally.
The brand now has an extensive range of apparel and collaborative items inspired by street culture, design, and reflects the gritty and nonstop energy of New Yorkers. The brand mixes street-minded sensibilities with mature sophisticated nods to high-end fashion. Just as Jeff Staple is versatile in his interests and passions, Staple Pigeon’s reach embraces many different landscapes such as art, music, fashion, and sports.
Along with the drop of the limited edition Air Max Zero “Pigeon” iD, Staple Pigeon launched its STAPLE SUMMER 2016 line. For its Summer 2016 collection, Staple Pigeon pulls inspiration from a myriad of bold patterns and classic design aesthetics. The collection is greatly influenced by traditional Asian floral prints, military pantones, nomadic travel, and sneaker design and culture. This motivation is translated in an exquisite fusion between bright all-over prints, and clean, stylish casual garments, all designed with a close regard to detail for which the Staple brand is known. Showcasing some motif-on-motif designs with the sly blend of florals and polka dots, the brand demonstrates its dynamic, adventurous and daring taste.
It can be tough to stay on and keep up with all the latest news with niche markets like the sneaker and streetwear community. That’s why SneakPeek is also happy to announce its partnership with the popular Australian independent magazine, Sneaker Freaker. Sneaker Freaker will now be available in select SneakPeek stores nationwide. And to make sure that the groundbreaking SneakPeek Unlocked Staple Pigeon makes noise not just in the Philippines but in the entire world at large, Sneaker Freaker covered the event as its official media partner, bringing in the big man behind Sneaker Freaker itself, Simon “Woody” Wood.
