As the NBA season tips off, Nike Inc. athletes take the court in Nike Basketball’s “Battle Grey” shoes. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving wore the Soldier 10 and KYRIE 2, each adorned with special gold highlights commemorating their 2015-16 Championship.

Additionally, other members of the Nike Basketball family — including Anthony Davis, Draymond Green, Paul George and more — also began their respective schedules in “Battle Grey” colorways of their chosen footwear.

The “Battle Grey” colorway represents a clean slate to the season — the chance to overcome challenges and make a statement of intent.

“I am challenging the perception of all the people out there who don’t believe I can lead a team,” says George. “My team is battling the perception that we are no longer a title contender.”

“The challenge that I face entering this season is to block out the haters, critics and the naysayers, and continue to be the person and player that’s gotten me where I am today… it’s time for another championship,” adds Green.

Meanwhile, Davis is aware that his test is against those critics “counting us out of making the playoffs.”
