On November 5, all-American boy band BROCKHAMPTON released the teaser for their web docuseries, Keeping the Band. The series comes fresh off the heels of their latest album, Ginger, and follows the group on their Heaven Belongs To You Tour, which kicked off last October in Vancouver.
The 25-second clip served as a sneak peek into life with the group on tour, showing snippets of performances in front of hyped-up audiences, bubbling tension and disagreements among the members, and interactions between the band and their fans. No official release date was given, with fans waiting for the series to drop any time within November. But just two weeks later, the group uploaded the series’ first episode, “Another Chance.”
While the content of the episode could be described as everything the teaser had us looking forward to–clips of the group at practice for the post-Ginger tour, preparing for their third appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and their opening Vancouver show–the ten-minute, sixteen-second video is probably much shorter than most anticipated, with a few BROCKHAMPTON Redditors expressing how underwhelmed they were by the episode.
However, given the little information anyone currently has about the series and that the Heaven Belongs To You Tour is currently on-going and concludes all the way in April 2020, nobody really knows what to expect. Because of this, it might also be safe to assume that even BROCKHAMPTON themselves may not yet know the series’ progression as the tour moves forward, and what events might be caught on camera.
If anything, the first episode is just a foot’s dip into the pool that is the docuseries. BROCKHAMPTON is giving us just a taste of what’s to come, and I, for one, am willing to give it another chance and see how things turns out.
