It’s been more than a month since the enhanced community quarantine was implemented, and a month since many of us have been able to go outside and enjoy the things we used to on a daily basis (if you’re not the household tribute, that is). But staying at home every day doesn’t have to mean staying unproductive or not taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
To help you do so, we’d like to put forward just a few apps that you can download on your phone in just a few seconds that could make that much of a difference to your #StayHome routine.
Sanvello
With premium access recently made free for everyone during the COVID-19 crisis, Sanvello is geared towards anyone dealing with depression, anxiety, or stress and are looking for a way to help relieve those feelings and meditate. The app tailors your experience to your lifestyle and even checks in with you at different points in the day to suggest activities specific to your needs. It’s one small way you can learn how to cope with different stressful situations, feel more in control, and be more mindful of yourself.
Duolingo
If you were ever interested in taking a foreign language class but didn’t have the time or money, this app solves those problems for you. Duolingo is a fun and easy way to learn different languages with its easy interface and bright visuals. It only takes a couple of minutes every day to learn something new, and the app encourages you to use it daily by keeping streaks and giving rewards. Duolingo claims that 34 hours on the app is equivalent to an entire semester of class, and while we might agree, you should go ahead and judge it for yourself.
7 MinuteWorkout
A lot of us (used to) stay fit by going to the gym or running outdoors, but none of that’s really possible for us right now. Whether you want to get back into that routine or begin a new one, 7 Minute Workout is as simple as it gets. You have several workout options presented to you once you open the app, ranging from beginner to high-intensity workouts, providing you a quick way to stay fit while safe indoors.
Project Foodie
If you’re tired of the basic recipes you already know and are looking to experiment, Project Foodie will help you get creative in the kitchen using what you’ve got at home. Opening up the app will present you with a ton of different recipes to choose from, showing how long prep and cooking time is for each dish, and whether they’re good for a beginner, intermediate, or advanced home cook. Their “Short Cuts” tab even has videos on how to cook or chop different kinds of vegetables and how to take care of your kitchenware. Happy cooking!
Psych!
It might not seem like an essential at first, but it’s always good to focus your mind on something fun and positive. Whoever you’re locked down with at home, whether its family, friends, lovers, or enemies, Psych! is the perfect game to play to pass the time and bond. After all, laughter is one of the greatest stress relievers anyone can get for free. Get points for guessing the right answer in different themes and rounds and for each player you psych!
