The Rail, a skateboarding and skate fashion concept store with influences from hip-hop music and culture, opened its 14th concept in the country on April 21, 2023. Located on the third floor of The Block in SM North EDSA, the Rail offers a wide range of skateboard decks, streetwear, and skate apparel with brands such as Avirex, Defend, Santa Cruz, Illest, Primitive and Maui and Sons–just to name a few.

The event was attended by street fashion and lifestyle personalities, as well as The Rail’s Executive, Neil Solomon, and Marketing Manager, Laika Del Rosario, who also led the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the store’s official opening.

Neil Solomon kicked off the program by sharing the story behind The Rail’s ten-year journey, their passion for the skate lifestyle, and their vision for the store moving forward into this era of street fashion and culture. In his opening message, he expressed gratitude to those who attended the event as well as brand enthusiasts who continue to support the brand. He also shined a light at the launch of WIPCAPS- a popular homegrown brand that embodies The Rail’s distinct style and culture. Solidifying The Rail’s presence in the local skate community.

WELCOME WIPCAPS

Mari Torres, one of the co-founders of WIPCAPS excitedly talked about their latest collaboration with The Rail. A proud moment for the first Filipino brand to bless The Rail’s collection. Iconic WIPCAPS pieces were on display at the store such as the ‘Bad Boy’ snapback cap, which features an embroidered Frenchie after a few hits of acid, and the classic navy WPCPS DAD CAP, which should be a staple of every cap collector and a must-see for all fans of skate fashion.

A Spotlight for Johnny Moonlight

Daniel Padilla’s alter ego “Johnny Moonlight” continues to support the skate scene by personally designing shirts and bags for The Rail. Their latest line of bags (duffle bag, tactical tote bag, mini duffle bag) were showcased during the event, perfectly crafted for the on-the-go yet functional and fashionable street lifestyle. Available in different sizes and variations, Johnny Moonlight made sure that it was something he would personally rock and represent.

Designing The Space with Music from Bird.

The space was filled with the music of Bird., a favorite among skaters and like-minded individuals. The band signified this sanctuary for the skate lifestyle where people of different ages, gender, and status are equally connected by the same passion.  After all, The Rail is not just a store but also a community hub for skaters and street culture enthusiasts sharing life perspectives.

While the guests partied and shopped, some were lucky enough to win prizes from The Rail, WIP Caps, PRIMITIVE, and others.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as this branch of The Rail will continue to serve as a source of new skateboarding apparel and accessories for all kinds of rides & lazy days. Visit the new branch and get a chance to score some bucket hats, caps, graphic tees, sneakers, bags, and skateboarding accessories.
