AGENT2K, whose real name is Josh Faraon, begins his journey in Navotas, a gritty part of Metro Manila, where he learned to navigate the harsh realities of urban life. The streets he calls home shaped his perspective, fueling his hustle. Whether making music, working as a production assistant, or flipping clothes for extra cash, Josh’s drive comes from his surroundings and the determination to create something out of nothing.

Navotas is more than just a tough neighborhood—it’s a place bursting with creativity. Agent2k proudly talks about the Navotas local music scene, giving a nod to his fellow musicians and friends Pmack, Csy, Wangboo, Pray, Thyron, who have become key players in shaping the distinct Navotas sound and storytelling. Growing up with this community of artists, he found inspiration and motivation to pursue his own music career.

Finding His Tribe

AGENT2K’s introduction to the Manila music scene came at a hip-hop event at the legendary gig space B-Side, where he connected with Rjay Ty and members of Bawal Clan. The culture, the clothes, and the attitude hooked him, drawing him deeper into the scene. He began attending more gigs, building relationships with other rappers, and immersing himself in the growing network of creatives.

For someone without much, this access to a new world of opportunities was life-changing. It wasn’t just about the music—it was about finding a tribe that empowered him to grow, both as an artist and as a person.

Establishing His Voice

Rap was his chosen form of expression, a natural medium for storytelling. He taught himself to write and rap, honing his craft until Yung Bawal, of Bawal Clan, invited him to record his first track. That moment marked the start of his music journey—a turning point that established his voice.

As his circle expanded, Agent2k stayed focused on creating music that resonated with his experiences. His recently released first EP Kamaynilaan reflects his commitment to authenticity, exploring the daily struggles of Filipinos, the frustrations of survival in a tough city, and the mindset behind the actions of people living in such environments. For him, it’s about telling the stories that need to be heard.

Siyudad

In his lead track, “Siyudad,” Agent2k addresses the drug war and the broken systems in the Philippines. The music video was filmed in his hometown, Navotas—a deliberate homage to his roots. This is where his story began, and where he feels the responsibility to shine a light on the struggles his community faces.

For Agent2k, music isn’t just a form of expression; it’s a way to elevate his community, honoring where he came from while using his voice to shed light on the truths around him.

A Way Forward

Looking back on his journey, Agent2k knows it wasn’t just talent or drive that got him this far. He credits his friends and collaborators, those who have supported him along the way, for shaping his worldview and giving him the space to grow as an artist. From being a fan in the audience, to becoming a voice in the scene, he’s always surrounded himself with people who believed in him.

Agent2k’s story is one of grit and resilience, but also of hope. His music speaks for his generation, telling stories that reflect the streets while inspiring others to see that no matter where you start, there’s always a way forward.
