Ever since diving into her solo journey, former CLC K-POP idol turned solo sensation, SORN, has been fiercely determined to unleash chart-topping hits that will shake up the music scene. Now with her debut EP titled Heartstorm out, the resident nirvana girl has finally found her sound – a bold and vibrant tune that will have you moving and grooving to the beat.

From Aspirant to Idol

Hailing from humble beginnings in Thailand, SORN’s journey towards stardom in the vibrant world of K-POP was fueled by sheer perseverance and unwavering passion. Relocating to South Korea at the tender age of 15, she conquered fierce competition from numerous trainees of diverse Korean and international backgrounds, securing her spot as a part of the early explosion of the genre alongside CrystaL Clear (CLC).

“I realized that I’m in their space now and I gotta respect their culture. I need to learn and improve myself. They gave me this wonderful opportunity and I know I have to do my best and with that mindset, I survived.”

Navigating a foreign country surrounded by people who didn’t speak English, SORN’s path was paved with years of relentless training and towering pressure. These trials sculpted her into the best version of herself who could finally live out her dreams and grace the stage alongside a select group of fortunate talents.

After almost putting the brakes on her music career, her passion for music and dedicated fanbase that continued to support her became the driving force behind her decision to start creating songs on her own and give this little music thing another shot. She admittedly found herself lost among the sea of songs, recognizing that listeners have increasingly less time to explore everything due to the ever-shortening attention spans in the age of social media.

Peeping into the Heart of the Storm

Describing herself as a concept-driven artist, SORN values small details like creating Pinterest boards and scouring Instagram references for her EP visuals. With a carefully crafted storyline in mind, she sends it to her producers to bring her vision to life. Pulling inspiration from her time with CLC, the themes of fierceness have always been evident in her sound and performances to this day.

Heartstorm is the most SORN out of everything I had put out before – a lot of dance music, girlcrush, independent woman type vibe – represents this me the most.

With Nobody as the main track for the EP, it encapsulates all of her thoughts on love – a myriad of descriptions and perspectives on the emotion, inspired by a recent tumultuous and personal experience. Despite acknowledging that love can be detrimental to her, she accepts the inevitability of getting hurt while remaining open to trying again.

Finding a Home Away from Home

Embracing the vibrant energy of the Philippines, SORN highlights her affinity for the country, drawing parallels to her native country of Thailand in terms of shared values like strong family ties. She also shared a fun tidbit that her father pursued a college degree in the Philippines and can fluently speak Tagalog.

“I found a connection with them seeing me as a normal person trying to pursue their dreams and it inspires them, gives them motivation to help follow their dreams. I’m really happy to connect with my fans not just through music, but also through my content and with what I do every single day, which I do enjoy doing.”

She hinted at pursuing more festival performances, concerts, and collaborations with content creators and other artists. In the meantime, you can stream “Heartstorm” now on streaming platforms and stay updated on all things SORN through her Instagram, YouTube channel, and TikTok.
