Fête de la Musique has been one of the more significant cultural events in the country for over 30 years, and this year they’ve made it sure to be bigger than ever.
Renowned for setting up pocket stages across the metro and beyond, it’s best we take a look first at their crème de la crème for casual music enjoyers wanting to experience a big event – their main stage. Headlining the festivities would be Ely Buendia and Armi Millare, two icons still pushing to create new works of art for the sheer passion of it all.
The lineup is actually filled with a chopsuey of genres from the local scene, from jazz-fusion band Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas’ groovy tunes that’s guaranteed to make us sway to ena mori’s hyperpop sound that’ll make the Ayala Triangle crowd party til’ the next day.
Given that this is a celebration of the world’s music, international acts are also present for the festivities: French jazz trio Émile Londonien and Jpop singer-songwriter Ito Kashitaro. There’s a chance that you’ll add them to your daily rotation and maybe even go through the rabbit hole for binge listening to similar artists.
If you’re looking for the more intimate Fête feel during the day, there’s also an off stage where the rising acts would get their chance to shine. It’s something akin to a pocket stage within the main stage grounds, being able to see the performers up close and interact with them after or even during their performance.
The best part aside from the curated cast of artists is that the event is totally free! So if you haven’t got anything scheduled for the day, it’s a check in the bucket list that you attend and maybe it’ll get you into a festive mood for the rest of June for more Fête festivities.
