There’s a certain energy to live rock music that’s hard to replicate anywhere else. A quiet intro can suddenly burst into distorted guitars and pounding drums, pulling you into the moment – singing along, moving with the crowd, or swept up in a mosh pit. It’s raw, immersive, and unpredictable, and it’s the kind of experience the Pixies have long been known for.

Formed in 1986, the Pixies are widely regarded as one of the most influential bands in alternative rock. Their mix of punk energy and pop melody, anchored by their signature loud-quiet-loud dynamic, helped define the sound of the 1990s and continues to resonate today. Their music sits in that striking balance of chaos and melody, abrasive yet oddly beautiful.

The band’s current lineup includes frontman Black Francis, Filipino-American guitarist Joey Santiago, drummer David Lovering, and bassist Emma Richardson. Where Is My Mind? remains a defining pop culture moment, most famously used in the final scene of Fight Club. Here Comes Your Man has also found new attention among younger listeners after being featured in Stranger Things Season 5, a series known for reviving ’80s and alternative tracks. Even in later songs like All I Think About Now, there is a more restrained feel, showing how their sound has matured without losing its edge.

Now celebrating four decades as a band, the Pixies are back on the road. And for the first time ever, they are bringing their live show to the Philippines on May 10, 2026 at The Filinvest Tent, Alabang. Their long-awaited Manila stop is made possible thanks to our friends at Karpos Live.

Tickets are still available via ticketlo.com, so don’t miss the chance to experience their unmistakable sound – loud, dynamic, and immersive – the way it’s meant to be heard: live.
