The Festival of Fixed by STFU Clothing Company happened last December 14, 2014 at The Collective, Malugay St., Makati City.
The event started off with a modified Alleycat race dubbed “The Urban Rampage”. Participants raced through the streets of Makati and Manila through 7 checkpoints, collecting 5 stickers to bring home to base in order to win the race. The two checkpoints which served as dummy checkpoints held no value to the racers and was left out to be a decoy, creating a playing field with an element of luck, if a racer had not stumbled upon a dummy checkpoint, they would save an enormous amount of time and could win them the race. This race was the first of its kind, an Alleycat with a twist, introduced and executed by the STFU crew.
The race ended just before dusk, after which, the minor events or “mini games” started.
Traditional side games such as the Trackstand headlined the minor events, although the trackstand event came with a twist as well, the last 5 riders remaining had to drink shots of Southern Comfort to move on to the next run of the Trackstand, this made this much a lot more interesting and different from the usual trackstand events. Then the Tire Change and Wheel Spin events proceeded after. The last event, before a box load of prizes from various, generous sponsors were raffled off, was a new event in the fixie scene called the Hataw Hamapasan, taken from the traditional Balloon Bursting event that is held in Baguio’s Annual Gymkhana. This new event proved to be the most entertaining one of allthe mini games as the participants were in a heated battle to keep their balloon unpopped while surrounded by riled up spectators, much like a scene off the movie Gladiator.
Highlighting the event was STFU’s Shirt launch, the clothing company released two new designs that were catered to the Fixed Gear scene, the two shirts are called “Fix the nation” and “Fixed Gear Chained Community”.
This was the company’s first event that would mark their first year as a clothing business as well, the event was co-presented by Southern Comfort and B-side and was sponsored by the following:
