In today’s modernized world, almost everything is accesible, everyone connected. There are a lot of avenues for self-expression now than ever before; however, it’s one thing to post a FaceBook message about your feelings, it’s another to express them creatively with paper, a pen or a paintbrush. But does this generation really realize the difference? Few popular advocacies venture into the art of art and expression – most of those who don’t, just underestimate its power. This year’s PR Event, however, aims show that youth literacy and expression are more influential than they are thought to be. UP Junior Marketing Association (UP JMA) brings you Graffiti: Write for Youth Literacy, an Interactive Graffiti Art Exhibit which, in lieu of International Literacy Day, strives to remind everyone that writing, speaking out and making art don’t just preserve life, they enrich it.
Graffiti: Write for Youth Literacy, more than just an exhibit of freedom walls, will be a social gathering, all for the celebration of culture and youth. Write on freedom cubes. Speak your mind. Enjoy as graffiti exhibitionists deliver the power of their art. Watch as UP Streetdane and Legit Status deliver the power of dance. Be entertained as Skarm and Beauty and the Beats battle it out in rap and beatbox. More importantly, work for a greater cause – donate a book. Give others a chance to read. UP JMA, a duly-recognized youth-run organization in the country’s premiere university, prepares this all for the benefit of charity and their fellow youth.
To anyone who has ever had something to say, to those who can express themselves, and those who can’t, but want to learn, this night of artistic fun is where they can be themselves – and more. This night is for those who want to unleash their creativity and fight for a cause in the process. Celebrate everything our youth can do and can be with UP JMA on September 10, 2011, at Eastwood Citywalk 2 and let your voice be heard!
Writing starts at 1pm. Program starts at 7pm.
