Having a wife and kids and busy with a day job as animator at TOEI animation studios, Victor Balanon still manages to jump from making one art work to another. He’s been drawing since he was a child, and for the most part, prides himself in being a self-taught artist.
As a “pang-gabi lang” artist, it didn’t stop him from drawing attention and gaining recognition in the art community.
Vic shows off his virtuosity in the medium of ink and acrylic in a drawing duel set-up of an exhibit opened on July 21 at Secret Fresh Gallery A. The showdown between him and full-time artist Ernest Concepcion entitled Versus will also feature screenings of Gurren Lagann, the mecha anime series and an artist talk.
Vic’s passion for drawing is unwavering. As a right-handed person, he impressively took on the endeavour to switching to being a southpaw last year because his right hand developed twitching problems. Art is what he wants to do and it always has been.
