The Athlete’s Foot (TAF), a premier hub for lifestyle footwear and apparel, has upped its game to be a go-to name for both the sporty and stylish. With the help of Philippine franchise partner Planet Sports Inc., the Global giant unveiled its new concept with an event in The Athlete’s Foot store located in Two Parkade, BGC. The event announced the start of the brand’s repositioning to the lifestyle segment. Moving forward, TAF will house products that embody the needs of the globally oriented and fashion aware consumers through brands such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Asics, as well as Puma and Reebok Classics in the near future.

Members of the press and media listened to Mikey Punsalan, TAF’s Concept Specialist, and Pepe Cervero, Planet Sports’ Merchandising Manager, who talked about the brand’s new global standard, while Kirsti Boessenkool, TAF’s Global Store Development Manager, shed some light on how far the brand has grown from its roots in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Anton Gonzalez, President of Planet Sports, Inc., was also present to share his excitement and support for the newly revamped brand.

Guests enjoyed food and beverage from American restaurant chain, Applebee’s. During the event, TAF also unveiled the NB 1500 series, a coveted sneaker for both the stylish and the sporty. Covered in suede and impressively dressed with synthetic accents, the sneaker is said to be the next big thing in athletic and stylish footwear.

Ingmar Kraak, CEO of The Athlete’s Foot comments: ‘’As sneaker-culture continues to gain momentum around the world and sports-wear becomes all-day-everyday-wear, The Athlete’s Foot is becoming the premier destination in The Philippines for the trend conscious kid looking for the latest looks. We are thrilled that Planet sports Inc. is embarking on this next stage of development for the chain.’’

The Athlete Foot’s new global standard highlights its lifestyle segment, as it aims to resonate with digitally minded metropolitans – those who keep themselves busy with their active lifestyles, without sacrificing on style for sport.

Following the first fully renovated TAF store in Glorietta 3, consumers can expect more fully renovated specialty stores to open in the Philippines, each providing the market with the latest in lifestyle footwear and apparel.

The Athlete’s Foot (TAF) was founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1971. In 2012, the business was acquired by INTERSPOT International Corp (IIC), the world’s largest Sporting Goods Retail Group, headquartered in Bern, Switzerland. Today, TAF comprises 459 stores in 24 countries, owned and & operated with partners. In The Philippines, franchise partner Planet Sports Inc. currently operates 16 TAF stores around the country.
