The four-time MVP, LeBron James collaborates with Nike designer Jason Petrie to elevate the design of the previous LeBron 15 to meet the world’s constant need of innovation for balance and support.

The Lebron 16 now introduces Battleknit 2.0, an evolved version of the scalloped knit from the Lebron 15 silhouette.

“The knit team at Nike are geniuses,” says Petrie. “I don’t use that term lightly. They are mathematical artists and have created a new knit for the 16 that is strong enough to contain LeBron and successfully reduces any layers in the overall build that could slow him down.”

A lower cut to the Lebron 16 gives more freedom for ankle movements and making a closer-to-the-ground feeling for increased speed and snug comfort.

“LeBron liked the cushioning so much last year that we just focused on refining it,” says Petrie. “For this addition, we removed the tendril that connected the forefoot to the under-toe bag, and instead included an outrigger to create some additional support to complement the lower height.”’

From the evolution of Max Air cushioning platform, Petrie was able to innovate LeBron 16, giving athletes more fluid movements on court.

The “Fresh Bred” launch colorway of the LeBron 16 will be available on Nike stores and nike.com on September 20, 2018.
